Build automation & IaC

Repeatable environment builds and deploys for the Siebel and .NET systems you already run.

Ansible, Terraform, and GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, scoped to a release that is still a manual checklist. Infrastructure as code and CI for a defined project.

Who it is for

  • A team whose Siebel or .NET release is a runbook someone still executes by hand.
  • An environment that exists once, on one machine, and cannot be rebuilt from what is written down.
  • An IT team that wants GitHub Actions or GitLab CI without standing up a platform org.

What the work includes

  • Ansible for the runbook

The steps an admin already performs — patch, config, service restart, the job after the job — written so the next person can run them without a shoulder to look over.

  • Terraform for the environment

The servers, network, and supporting pieces that should exist as code, scoped to the environment this project needs.

  • GitHub Actions or GitLab CI

The pipeline that runs the build and the deploy. GitHub or GitLab, whichever the team already uses. A failed step has to be visible to the person who owns the release.

  • Automated environment builds

A dev or test environment that can be stood up again from the repository, instead of a machine everyone is afraid to touch because nobody remembers how it was made.

  • Repeatable deploys

The same path to production each time, with a rollback you have named. The point is less manual Siebel and .NET release toil, and a handoff the current admin can read.

How an engagement starts

The project starts from the release that hurts: the Siebel patch, the .NET deploy, the environment nobody can rebuild. Ansible, Terraform, and the CI system the team already has are the means. There is no separate case study for this practice, and no metric claimed for how much toil it removes. If the honest scope is a short pipeline beside an application project, that is the work.

If Build automation & IaC is the project, send a paragraph.

Name the system, what is stuck, and any date that already exists. That is enough to tell whether this practice is the right one.
